I don’t know if you get the same…there are so many beautiful patterns out there that making them all would require a huge closet…not to mention a lot of time to make them and a very busy social life to wear it all. So, I came up with a plan: combining some of my favorite details from some of my favorite patterns 😉 Maybe I will inspire someone to do the same!

Here is how my Melting Pot blouse was born! And it’s international too: Canadian thanks to Sewaholic, French thanks to Kit by Klo and Italian thanks to the fabric from Tessuti e Scampoli

Non so se succeda anche a voi…ci sono cosi’ tanti bei cartamodelli in giro che farli tutti richiederebbe un armadio enorme…per non parlare del tempo per cucirli e della vita sociale molto attiva per riuscire ad usarli tutti. Per questo motivo ho messo in atto un piano: prendere alcuni degli elementi dei miei cartamodelli preferiti e creare un unico capo ;o) magari trovate quest’idea utile!

Ecco come e’ nata la mia blusa Melting Pot (Minestrone?? non suona molto bene)! Ed e’ anche internazionale: canadese grazie a  Sewaholic, francese grazie a Kit by Klo e italiana grazie al tessuto di Tessuti e Scampoli

As you may notice the sleeves are pulling around my upper arm despite many adjustments. I later realized that simply the shape doesn’t work for me. Though the overall length is ok the curves are off. I’m not a drafting expert so I can’t tell you whether they are not well drafted. My previous experiences with Sewaholic patterns (including the rest of this blouse) have been perfect…flawless fit with very minimal adjustments.

Come forse noterete, la camicia tira un po’sull’omero nonostante abbia fatto molte modifiche. Alla fine mi sono resa conto che la forma della manica non funziona per me. Nonostante la lunghezza sia corretta, le curve non lo sono. Non sono un’esperta di modellismo quindi non posso dirvi se sia stata disegnata correttamente. La mia esperienza con Sewaholic e’ sempre stata perfetta (compresa quella con il resto di questa blusa)…vestibilita’ perfetta con modifiche minime.

How did I solve it in the end? I got this crazy idea to reuse a La Mia Boutique shirt sleeve pattern that fit perfectly. I thought I would have to redraft the armhole to match…but it had exactly the same circumference. Unfortunately, can’t change it on this blouse because I would need to redo the whole bottom closure as the sleeve cap requires additional fabric…but I was able to fix another top I made…and I was really happy. I learned a very important lesson…sometimes the armhole shapes are so different that no matter how many adjustments you can make (lower the sleeve cap, widen it…whatever) it will never fix it…you really need to reshape the curve. I’ll try to show you in an upcoming post.

Come ho risolto il problema alla fine? Mi e’ venuta in mente una pazza idea di riutilizzare il cartamodello della manica di una camicia de La Mia Boutique che mi andava a pennello. Pensavo di dover modificare anche il giromanica…ma alla fine la circonferenza era uguale. Purtroppo non posso piu’ modificare questa blusa perche’ dovrei accorciare la manica per far entrare il nuovo giromanica e quindi ricreare tutta la chiusura…ma sono riuscita a sistemare un’altra blusa…e sono molto contenta. Ed ho imparato una lezione molto importante…a volte il giromanica e’ cosi’ diverso che non e’ possibile migliorare la vestibilita’ nonostante si facciano varie modifiche (abbassare la manica, allargare…insomma)…e’ proprio necessario modificare la curva.
