La Mia Boutique 05/2017 Review-Recensione

I’m awfully late with this review (and replying to your kind comments on my last post)…this issue is available for sale only until May 15. Having said that, there are several options to buy La Mia Boutique worldwide and back issues too.

As you will see this issue is filled with great basics…perfect for hacking. I would recommend buying it simply for that!

Since I’m late I thought I’d try a different format for this review…showing similar patterns to those published on the magazine…so you can hack the pattern to achieve that look and discover a pattern full potential beyond the styling you see on the magazine.  This is something I regularly do in my head when I see a new issue or when I see a pattern I like in the wild…

Since this is an experiment so I would really appreciate your feedback!

This pattern is very similar to Blouse Chic Birdy by Kit by Klo As you may remember, I used the collar and neckline from that pattern on my Melting pot Blouse. The obvious differences are the sleeve flounces, collar, missing back pleat and joke. Overall there’s more ease on the Blouse Chic Birdy.

This blouse is even more similar to Blouse Chic Birdy by Kit by Klo. The difference is in the added darts and placket and different collar. Note this pattern is for plus sizes.

Questo modello e’ ancor piu’ simile alla Blouse Chic Birdy by Kit by Klo.

This one reminds me of Deer & Doe Plantain Shirt Here there’s no set in sleeve, so it’s quicker to sew. On the other hand this pattern is made for wovens…so you might have to size down if you use a knit.

When I saw this blouse my mind went to… Blouse Cezembre by Anne Kerdiles This one is more fitted and there are differences at the hem.

Blouse Cezembre by Anne Kerdiles Questa e’ piu’ attillata e la parte inferiore e ‘ diversa.

This top could become Back is Back by Vanessa Pouzet. Here you have added darts and inset. The back neckline would need reshaping.

Questa maglietta potrebbe diventare Back is Back by Vanessa Pouzet.

This dress reminds me of the Liv T-Shirt from Pattydoo Berlin The difference lies in the lenght (!) and the side seams that make this dress more fitted. Incidentally, this pattern company is very interesting because you can mix and match pattern elements to make it your own!

Finally, a bomber jacket. A similar pattern is Jalie’s Bomber Jacket

Here is the full pattern list. You can also see more on La Mia Boutique Facebook or Instagram page.

E per finire un bomberino. Un cartamodello simile e’ quello di Jalie

Ecco la lista completa dei modelli. Potete vederne altri sulla pagina Facebook o Instagram de La Mia Boutique.

So…do you also have this pattern hacking bug as I do?

  1. This is a super issue! There are several things that I would happily sew and wear. Several of the tops and those skinny white pants (although not in white!).
And, it seems to me, the styling on these isn’t as wacky as normal!

  2. Thank you for this review, I like LMB and have few issues already. Is not easy to get in UK but, newsstand do it. I don’t have this issue but I like blouse 17 and definitely see that LMB goes better with styling models than before. Keep posting , its nice to know someone in the world like LMB and sewing world is not only by Burda and NewLook.

    1. Thanks so much! Happy to know you’re reading. I know finding it abroad is not easy. I’m hoping interest will grow and then it will be more widely available…or that one day they will also consider PDF
