When I find a pattern I like that and fits me…I love making it several times! Cassock coat by BCN Unique…aka Paco Peralta is just perfect like that. For this third version I wanted a short jacket I could wear for work and going out.
Compared to my previous hacks, this one is very straight forward…I simply shortened the hem and finally added the lining!
For the first time ever I used scuba fabric from Lafab tessuti…It’s nice to work with and wear…but I must admit it’s a pain to iron…you need to use a cloth and it’s hard to press in shape.
I couldn’t resist buying a silver zipper (finding cool zippers is so hard) and then thought using silver glitter piping I bought eons ago from Supercut.
I’m very happy with the result. Next time I want to add a raised collar 😉
That piping is really sharp – nice jacket!

This turned out really cute! The piping is a super detail. One of those jackets that goes with everything! Gorgeous!

Love your jacket! Beautiful fit, zipper and piping and like you say it’s just the type of jacket that works with everything from jeans to fancy dresses.

I really like this! Scuba, however, puts me off. I’ve only seen it in person at a posh shop in Florence, where among the silks and tweeds it didn’t shine. Seems supremely practical.

Thanks, Judith! Scuba is actually quite easy to sew as it’s firm. If you have a walking foot it’s easier but you could also put cello tape below your presser foot if you face sliding issues. Price wise it wasn’t very expensive. I had bought it on Lafab tessuti and you can find still some nice scuba if you wish to try. (I am not affiliated to the store I just had good experiences with them. If you email them in English they do reply)
