How are you doing? Hope your mood is ok and you still manage to sew a bit. Personally, this second lockdown is proving harder than the first time around. Trying to stay positive but not always easy. So, while it’s snowing outside and movement is limited I thought it was time to share this self-drafted bolero jacket I made this summer.
Come state? Spero vi sentiate bene e che riusciate ancora a cucire. Personalmente questo secondo lockdown mi sta pesando più del primo. Cerco di rimanere positiva ma non sempre è facile. Quindi, mentre fuori nevica e gli spostamenti sono limitati, ho pensato fosse giunta l’ora di farvi vedere questo bolerino che ho fatto quest’estate con cartamodello creato da me.
Flamenco flair
Blame it on my flamenco passion, but a bolero jacket has been on my list for a long time. Finally I took the plunge when drafting instructions were included in the patternmaking course I took last January. It was the design I was hoping for…plus I managed to reverse-engineer this beautiful sleeve cuff design I had seen on their pictures.
Sarà per la mia passione per il flamenco, ma tanto tempo volevo cucire un bolerino. Finalmente ci ho provato perché le spiegazioni per realizzarlo erano incluse nel corso di modellistica che ho seguito a gennaio. Era proprio il modello che desideravo realizzare…e per di più sono riuscita a capire come realizzare quelle meravigliose maniche che avevo visto in una delle foto.
Bonus of this make…all fabrics come from my stash and a leftovers pieces from previous makes…that’s the real story behind the color-blocking ;o)
Punto in più per questa giacca…ho usato tutta stoffa avanzata da altri capi…è questa la vera storia della combinazione di colori di questo capo ;o)
Hard to see on the picture but I understitched the facing by hand for a couture look.
Difficile da notare dalla foto ma ho realizzato un sottopunto a mano lungo tutta la paramontura per un dettaglio sartoriale in più.
I am happy about the design, how I managed to draft all pattern pieces…and even more about the sleeve fit. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think this was the best part about the course I took…I finally understood where the shoulder seam should fall.
The only drawback is that I can’t wear this bolero jacket much these days as I am hardly going out but I hope in the future I will be able to wear it again over dresses…maybe I could make a full jacket version.

Sono contenta del risultato, di essere riuscita a disegnare tutte le parti del cartamodello…e ancor di più della vestibilità della manica. Come detto in un post precedente, credo questa sia stata la parte migliore del corso che ho seguito…ho finalmente capito dove deve cadere la cucitura della spalla.
L’unico inconveniente è che in questo periodo non riesco a mettere questa giacca visto che esco pochissimo. Spero che in futuro riuscirò a metterla di nuovo sui vestiti…magari potrei farne una versione lunga.
