Sewaholic Thurlow Shorts: color-blocking addiction

Sewing-Princess--Thurlow-Sewaholic-Shorts---front

I’m so happy I finally made Sewaholic Thurlow Shorts. Actually they were meant to be full-length pants…but I didn’t have enough fabric (well, I mean pants fabric!) for a trial pair…and I wasn’t just ready to part with some cashmere wool. After all I wanted to test the fit…

From previous experience I know I’m a size 4…I was honestly expecting to be needing some adjustments…but I didn’t. Well, probably if I had fitting expert by my side I’m sure some changes to the crotch…but I can’t really tell myself…so I didn’t make any 😉

Unfortunately, I am yet to master welt pockets…they are not perfect. I was so annoyed. I still need to practice. I also managed to stretch the wool by the back waistband…it doesn’t lie flat as it should despite several ironing attempts.

I’ll tell you a secret…color-blocking was a necessity (and wearing boots is the only way to make my legs look longer!)…it’s vintage wool and that’s all I had. Feels absolutely great to wear…I didn’t even need to line the shorts they don’t make it like that anymore!

  1. I need this pattern, it looks just what I’ve been after! I have nearly finished a simplicity pair but the back waistband is elasticated and they just look like a pair of school PE shorts. Will go and look at the thurlow now! Yours look great
