If you were expecting to see my finished pants, you will be quite surprised to see a new skirt. But I have a very valid excuse (or at least that’s what I have been telling myself)… I was testing a new pattern from Jocole: her soon-to-be-released Easy Swing Skirt.
From time to time Jodi Jean asks for pattern testers thorough her blog and this time I volunteered. And I am very excited for having had this opportunity. Why?
- I managed to cut and sew this skirt in one evening after work. Except from jersey tops I never manage to put together a project so quickly… (I am always amazed when people tell me they sew a dress in 3 hours!)
- The fit was perfect for my size: as you have probably noticed I don’t use ready-made patterns much because having used Burda and I always end up having to tweak the pattern due to my height.
- I learned and succeeded with new techniques: in her instructions Jodi Jean explains how to sew the elastic waistband like a pro, how to do a narrow hem (though in the end I used a rolled hem) and how not to overlap the elastic when stitching the ends together.
- Last but not least, I am very excited because I scored this Armani fabric in the bargain bin and I still have some left for a small project (only negative point is: it gets very wrinkly)
So, all in all it was a fun project I would highly recommend. So I hope you will forgive me for the detour on my sewing plans. I will resume my to do list as of tomorrow: pants to finish and a sheath dress.
What about you? Do you tend to have several projects on your table or one at the time?
