Yeah! I finally finished a project…well, actually that was before New Years… three months to write about it is quite a long time…

Haven’t been feeling like sewing and posting much… blame it on some shoulder pain and having sewn so much in the past 8 years… I don’t really need so many clothes!

Non avevo molta voglia di cucire né di scrivere; forse per colpa del dolore alla spalla e per aver cucito così tanto negli ultimi otto anni. Non ho davvero bisogno di così tanti vestiti!

What I really needed was a bag for work big enough to carry a large notepad and with a carry-on handle…so I can easily slide it on when traveling without having to carry it on the shoulder.

I also wanted a simple shape…so I wouldn’t have to fiddle around too much when making it. Though sewing leather on a domestic machine is doable, it’s still harder than on an industrial machine due to the thickness and speed and…

Quello di cui avevo davvero bisogno era una borsa per l’ufficio che fosse grande abbastanza per un quaderno A4 e con una maniglia per il trolley…così da poterla trasportare facilmente senza doverla portare in spalla.

For the pattern I turned sideways this Vanessa Bruno bag pattern, added boxed corners and a recessed closure ( has a great tutorial). I wanted to add a small pocket but forgot to sew it on! Thankfully I have one of those practical bag organizers I can stuff with all my essentials 😉

Overall sewing the bag was time-consuming especially when I had to work on the handles… despite having a walking foot my machine skipped some stitches…so I had to pierce them with a owl and stitch them by hand…not fun!

Ho usato il cartamodello della borsa di Vanessa Bruno, ho aggiunto gli angoli e una chiusura nascosta (qui trovate delle spiegazioni fantastiche). Volevo anche aggiungere una piccola tasca ma dimenticato di cucirla! Per fortuna ho uno di quei contenitori praticissimi da borsa per poterci mettere tutti gli oggetti essenziali da portare con me😉

In generale, ci ho messo molto tempo a cucire la borsa soprattutto quando è arrivato il momento di aggiungere i manici… Nonostante avessi un piedino a doppio trasporto la macchina saltava i punti… Quindi ho dovuto fare i buchi con un punteruolo e cucire a mano… Non è stato molto divertente!
