Though I’ve been writing La Mia Boutique reviews for a 5 years now (maybe I could qualify for a prize ;o) … every month I’m still excited to discover it…and always wonder: Will I find something I like? Will there be something you may like? Will the pictures be nice? I must admit I wish I didn’t have to give negative feedback on the magazine because I know that 1) a lot of work goes into it 2) I am not their only customer …at the same time I want to be able to say what I honestly think…so, without further ado…here is my April 2018 review for you!

Anche se scrivo recensioni de La Mia Boutique da ben 5 anni (forse potrei avere un premio ;o)… ogni mese sono curiosa di scoprire cosa ci sarà…e mi chiedo sempre: Trovero qualcosa che mi piace? Ci sarà qualcosa che potrebbe piacervi? Ci saranno belle foto? Devo ammettere che preferirei non dover dare commenti negativi perché so che 1) c’è molto lavoro dietro 2) non solo la sola loro cliente… al tempo stesso…voglio poter dire quello che penso onestamente…quindi senza ulteriori indugi… ecco la recensione del numero di Aprile 2018 per voi!

When I first saw this picture I was shocked! I don’t know if it’s the fabric, the shoes with those knee highs, the high-waisted pants…or all of those elements together. When I was just about to tear my hair out…I tried to calm down and look at the tech drawings…that usually helps me a lot! Based on those…I would say the patterns are nice…just avoid a pink boucle outfit!

Quando ho visto questa foto mi è preso un colpo! Non so se sia stata la stoffa, le scarpe con i gambaletti arrotolati, i pantaloni a vita alta…o tutti e tre messi insieme. Quando ero sul punto di  strapparmi i capelli… ho cercato di tranquillizzarmi e guardare i disegni tecnici… di solito mi aiuta molto! In base a quelli direi…i cartamodelli non sono male… evitate solo il boucle rosa!

his shirt reminds me of Deer&Doe Bruyere shirt but I personally like it less. It’s not bad though.

Questa camicia mi ricorda Deer&Doe Bruyere anche se la trovo meno bella. Non è pessima però

I wasn’t going to include this pattern on the review…but then I thought it’s a nice pattern if you want to sew a quick jacket…no set in sleeves…perfect for beginners or for those teaching (DiNuvoleDicuori, LaDulsatina, Officina del cucito Pietrasanta I’m thinking of you…btw if you ever wished to take a sewing course in Italy get in touch with them…they are very talented and speak several languages!)

All’inizio avevo pensato di non incluere questo cartamodello…poi ho pensato che la giacca è perfetta per cucirne una velocemente…ha maniche raglan integrate… perfetta per principianti o per chi insegna (DiNuvoleDicuori, LaDulsatina, Officina del cucito Pietrasanta  penso a voi… a proposito se cercate un corso di cucito moderno con insegnanti brave e simpatiche contattatele!)

Trench coats are a must for the spring…though you can’t see the details due to the color, the drawing tells me it’s not bad. Though I personally like the pants design better!

Il trench è il capo per eccellenza della primavera…anche se non si vede bene a causa del colore, il disegno tecnico mi dice che non è male. A me però piace di più quello dei pantaloni!

I would have loved to have those jeans pattern…they’re exactly the style I go for (I have two pairs of Levi’s like that and will wear them until they fall apart!). What you get with the magazine is the overcoat…to me it’s more a dress…but in any case…let me tell you this…thanks to the styling make the fabric look way better than on a previous picture in a different pattern where it looked awful!

Sarei stata molto contenta se avessero incluso il cartamodello dei jeans…sono esatamente il mio stile (ho due paia di Levi´s simili e li userò fino a quando non si romperanno!) Invece quello che trovate è lo spolverino…a me sembra più un vestito… ma comunque vi dico una cosa… in questa foto lo styling fa miracoli sulla stoffa…la resa è di gran lunga migliore rispetto a quella di qualche foto precedende in cui sembrava orrenda!

For a wedding, maybe?

Love this dress! I would even dare to wear it in that same fabric…I don’t know if I would like the result on me or if I would look like granma Silvia!

Adoro questo vestito! Oserei anche indossarlo in quella stoffa… ma non so se mi piacerebbe il risultato su di me o se sembrerei nonna Silvia!

Not sure about the jacket closure, personally….Otherwise nice look! BTW the top pattern (26) is also included and it’s very similar to pattern 29…they both remind me of my beloved Dimity top

Non sono convinta della chiusura della giacca…ma a parte questo bel completo! A proposito anche il top (26) è incluso e simile al 29 di seguito…entrambi mi ricordano il mio amato Dimity
I could see this as an outfit to go to a wedding…what do you think?

Anche questo sarebbe perfetto per un matrimonio…che ne dite?

Love this outfit! The top print…not so sure…mixed feelings (by the way it’s misaligned at the back Mr Benedetto Talarico fashion designer!) I only wish the photographer and stylist got rid of that red Fire extinguisher sign…and now that I see it the actual extinguisher behind the bag! I know I’m picky and quite demanding but hey…

Questi modelli mi piacciono tantissimo! Non sono sicura della stampa della blusa (tra parentesi il disegno sul retro non combacia Signor Benedetto Talarico  stilista!) L’unca cosa è che mi sarebbe piaciuto che lo stilista e il fotografo eliminassero quel cartello rosso estintore…e ora che lo noto l’estintore che si intravede dietro la borsa! Lo so sono pignola ed esigente ma…

I think this dress really suits the model. Too low cut for my personal taste but definitely a good wrap-dress pattern and plus size (btw did you see the Instagram Sew Together for Summer challenge? Just sew a wrap dress by 22 June and you can win great prizes. Love wrap dresses)

Trovo che questo modello doni molto alla modella. Lo scollo è troppo pronunciato per i miei gusti ma è un bel vestito a portafoglio e in taglia plus (a proposito avete visto su Instagram l´iniziativa Sew Together for Summer per partecipare basta cucire un vestito a portafoglio entro il 22-6…ci sono in palio bellissimi premi! Adoro i vestiti a portafoglio)

I think this pattern looks great from the front but I’m not sure it’s as flattering from the side if you have more than an A cup. The good thing is that that flounce could be easily omitted and you would still have a nice dress. I would make it without that flounce.

Mi piace questo modello dal davanti ma non sono sicura sia altrettanto bello di lato con una coppa superiore alla A. Il lato positivo è che quel volant può essere facilmente omesso e il vestito sarebbe molto bello comunque. Io lo farei senza volant!

Last but not least…a jumpsuit. Again too low-cut for me but otherwise I really love this pattern and print!

So…all in all…this issue was better than I thought when I first opened the magazine…but you…or at least I… have to look beyond the surface sometimes!

E per finire una tuta… Lo scollo è eccessivo per me ma a parte questo mi piace sia il modello che la stoffa!

Insomma…in fondo queso numero è meglio di quanto mi aspettassi dopo aver sfogliato la prima pagina…ma a volte devi…o almeno devo…sforzarmi e andare oltre la prima impressione!
