The Buttercup Bag pattern available for free at Made by Rae has been on my sewing list for over a year.  Although it’s a rather simple and quick project, I kept putting it aside. And this is even funnier since I adore small bags.

E’ da oltre un anno che volevo fare la borsa Buttercup Bag creata da Made by Rae. Nonostante sia piuttosto facile e veloce continuavo a rimandare. E questo nonostante adori le borse di piccole dimensioni!

Not to mention that the fabric has been on my stash since 2009…when I was starting getting into ‘serious’ sewing. I accidentally found it during a trip to Denmark (although it was made in the UK). The truth is that I was just trying to find the perfect project and I was too afraid to cut it up. You see, I only have half yard of it.

Do you ever get so respectful of your fabric?

E per non parlare della stoffa che ho dal lontano 2009, quando cominciavo a cucire sul serio. L’ho trovata per caso durante un viaggio in Danimarca (anche se la stoffa e’ fatta nel Regno Unito). In realta’ ero alla ricerca del modello perfetto per usarla e non volevo sprecarla, visto che ne avevo solo 50 cm scarsi.

Capita anche a voi di essere cosi’ rispettose della vostra stoffa?

I took these pictures when I was strolling around a few Saturdays ago in Domodossola, a town pretty close by but yet unknown to me…

Questi scatti sono di qualche sabato fa quando sono andata a Domodossola, una citta’ vicina ma ancora sconosciuta.

You can imagine my utter surprise when I saw a tailor’s shop with this beauty on the window. Inside I could see a master tailor with all the tools of the trade. It was like jumping back in time. I felt odd asking to take pictures to show you what it looked like…How could I explain my enthusiasm without sounding silly or disrespectful? So I am afraid this is all I can show you from that fantastic workshop that will probably disappear in a few years.

Potrete immaginare la mia sorpresa quando mi sono trovata davanti a una sartoria con questa bellissima macchina da cucire in vetrina. All’interno c’era un sarto con tutti gli attrezzi del mestiere. Non ho avuto il coraggio di chiedere se potessi fare delle foto per mostrarvele… Come spiegare il mio entusiasmo senza sembrare folle o scortese? Quindi purtroppo questa e’ l’unica foto che ho fatto di quel bellissimo negozio che probabilmente sprarira’ tra pochi anni.
