My smile says it all, I guess: I am proud to present my version of the Lonsdale Dress. I was a bit late starting this project but the days off work helped me finish it.
Il mio sorriso non mente, credo: Sono orgogliosa di presentarvi la mia versione del vestito Lonsdale. Ho cominciato a lavorarci con un po’ di ritardo ma i giorni di ferie mi hanno aiutato a finirlo.
I chose a light cotton with a slight stretch from my usual fabric shop (Giesse Scampoli)

The dress was a pleasure to sew, especially thanks to Tasia’s great sew-along. The finishes are superb thanks to her advice. I got to learn a few tricks like understitching, using stay tape and trimming down allowances.
I had to alter the bodice by taking it at the center front and take about a inch off at the back. Must be really pear-shaped!
As you can see in the picture I put in an invisible zipper which gave me a slight headache… I had to sew one side 3 times because I was not paying enough attention.
E’ stato un piacere cucire questo vestito, soprattutto grazie alle istruzioni di Tasia. Le rifiniture sono stupende grazie ai suoi consigli. E ho imparato qualche trucco come stabilizzare le cuciture, rifinire i margini di cucitura, e fare il sovrapunto.
Ho dovuto modificare il corpetto stringendolo al centro davanti e togliendo circa 2 cm sulla schiena. Credo proprio di essere fatta a pera!
Come vedete dalla foto ho usato una chiusura lampo invisibile, che questa volta mi ha dato qualche problema: ho dovuto ricucire lo stesso lato 3 volte per sbadataggine.
The timing was perfect… it’s a very hot week where I live and the place where we had dinner did not have any airco. The dress helped to stay cool!

La tempistica e’ stata perfetta… questa settimana fa molto caldo dove abito e il posto dove eravamo a cena non aveva l’aria condizionata. Il vestito mi ha aiutata a rimanere fresca!

It’s beautiful! What a lovely fabric pick for this dress. The style looks great on you and I like the fact that it’s not quite a maxi but also not so short. I recently found out from Karen (of “Did you make that?” fame) that there is such a thing as a narrow upper chest adjustment so maybe you have a narrow upper chest (sounds better that “pear shaped”, ¿no?). Based on your smiling face I imagine that the zipper insertion headache is now gone and was well worth it in the end. Your dress is making me want to whip one up for myself…except we have fall/winter on the way. Great job, Sewing Princess!
