How was the first Italian Sewing Meetup?
For me it’s been an emotional rollercoaster…euphoria, joy, bliss, excitement…and trying to combine all of this with organisational tasks for the day…like handing out name tags, remembering to take a group picture, coordinating the fabric swap or finding the way to the fabric store! Just picture taking the bus in Milan on a Saturday afternoon with nearly 30 ladies!
Com’e’ stato il primo Incontro di Cucito Italiano?
Per me e’ stato un turbinio di emozioni…euforia, gioia, felicita’, eccitazione…e cercare di incastrare tutte queste emozioni con la coordinazione del giorno…come distribuire le etichette con i nomi, ricordarsi di far la foto di gruppo, animare lo scambio di tessuti o trovare la strada per il negozio di stoffe! Immaginate prendere l’autobus di sabato pomeriggio a Milano con quasi 30 donzelle!
Looks like a nice and quiet group, right? Unfortunately, some ladies are missing because we were so busy chatting away that I totally forgot about it! I suddenly realize what ‘wedding planners’ are for 😉
Sembra un bel gruppo tranquillo, vero? Purtroppo non ci sono alcune persone perche’ eravamo cosi’ impegnate a chiacchierare che mi sono completamente dimenticata di fare la foto! E finalmente ho capito a cosa servono i wedding planners 😉
And if you thought we were quiet ladies…wait until you see the video! We certainly didn’t pass unperceived among Lab Cafe’ and Emmepi tessuti fabric store regular customers 😉
We were so lucky to have a professional videomaker, Giancarlo Garbocci, among us…not only did he endure all those giggles but he also managed to shoot a fantastic video without ever being ‘in the way’. A real pro!
E se pensavate che fossimo un gruppo tranquillo…aspettate di vedere il video! Sicuramente ci siamo fatte notare dai clienti abituali del Lab Cafe’ e del Negozio di stoffe Emmepi tessuti
Una foto vale 1000 parole…ma un video e’ ancora meglio! Siamo state fortunate ad avere tra di noi un videomaker professionista Giancarlo Garbocci…non solo ha sopportato le nostre risate tutta la giornata ma e’ anche riuscito a girare un fantastico video senza essere mai ‘tra i piedi’. Un vero professionista!

Love reading your blog aNd the material shopping in Milan looked great. I spent 2 years working with italian team in Turin for an American paper company and have been trying to learn some italian…..so it is good to try to read your blog in italian but have an english translation.

Oh, sounds like a cool job! Thanks so much for reading my blog. I am happy it can help you practice your Italian. I have often doubted whether to keep the languages together on the same post or separate but this is certainly one good reason to keep them on the same page.

I am using your site to learn and practice my Italian too. I really need to learn the language because i genitori di la mia nuora non parlano Inglese. (Did I get that right?)

Dai, la prossima volta! Mi farebbe davvero piacere incontrarti. Magari visto che sei appassianata di maglia puoi approfittare per andare a Milano per uno degli incontri di maglia che organizzano al Café Lab. Di solito non vado per la distanza…ma se decidi di andare fammi sapere e ci organizziamo…mini meetup maglia e stoffe!

It looks like a terrific success Silvia! I loved seeing the video especially! No problems for me to see and hear it. And to see everyone chatting and laughing in the cafe, and then to see everyone very studious and quietly intent when in the fabric store….great fun! Hmmmmm….I wonder if I can get Glen to shoot some video for the 40+ bloggers meet up in Vancouver this summer?

You should definitely ask him! (you can blame it on me for giving you the idea!) It would be so cool to see what your meetup looks like. I so wish I had my own plane so I could just go from meetup to meetup…;)

And that fabric store? I want to go there right away. Isn’t Expo this year in Milano? Maybe I should do a two-day trip to Milano: one day for Expo and one day to meet you girls and to check out some fabric stores?

I am so happy it worked! The video is brilliant and I agree with you on the music. Yes, the expo is starting on May 1…I will even have my own lab http://europa.eu/expo2015/sylvia-s-lab (kidding). It would be great if you could make it to Milan…and I am sure we could find a way to meet up all 4 together.

Silvia hai proprio ragione è stato un vero e proprio turbinio di emozioni, ho avuto il piacere di conoscere chi già un pochino conoscevo tramite internet e di conoscere persone nuove tutte fantastiche e con la stessa passione!!! Giancarlo è stato fantastico e dovrò premiarlo per la sua pazienza..spero che il filmato vi sia piaciuto tanto e che magari chissà ci sia presto una nuova occasione per un altro!!! un bacione!!!
