Slowly but surely…I managed to sew! I have been dithering whether to post this or not…I was used to posting weekly for 8 years and now it seems like I can’t even manage to post once a month!
But I thought that at the end of the day I’m not running any contest here and many of you may be experiencing the same. At the end of the day, sewing and posting from time to time is better than nothing. I want to keep it real…and this is my reality right now… How is it for you?

Pian pianino ho cucito qualcosa… non ero sicura se postare o meno… per 8 anni ho postato ogni settimana ma ora non riesco a farlo neanche una volta al mese!

Poi mi sono detta che in fondo non sto facendo nessuna gara e magari anche voi siete in una situazione analoga. In fondo cucire e postare di tanto in tanto è meglio di niente. Voglio che questo blog rispecchi la realtà… e al momento questa è la situazione per me… e per voi?

Though this lingerie set is a small project I am very happy about this accomplishment. I managed to use up scraps and supplies I had in my stash for a number of years. I mean I bought elastics and straps at DressSew in Vancouver back in 2014! That glitter fabric is a leftover from a yoga outfit while the grey knit is a repurposed Pattydoo t-shirt

The bra pattern has been on my to-do list forever…you may recognize the free Barrett bralette by Madalynne The 60’s retro panties are from a Spanish blog La Pantigana…also from several years ago…I had made a pair before Overall both patterns are straightforward, however I’d like to make a couple of remarks in case you plan to sew them (or a similar pattern)

Barrett bralette

• Pay attention to using nail polish to prevent fraying. Mine made the fabric scratchy!
• Finishing the cutout is fiddly…make sure your elastics slightly overlap to avoid unsightly edges.
• Though not required, I would serge the bottom section before attaching the elastic.
• Accurately measure the elastic stretch factor in the underarm area to ensure both sides match…mine don’t…check the right-hand side!

Retro panties

• While it’s very practical to attach the elastic before sewing the side seams, I don’t like the end result. Either tack down the seam allowances or attach the elastic in the round

Forse l’avete riconosciuto… è il cartamodello gratuito di Madalynne Barrett bralette Le mutande sono un modello retro del un blog spagnolo La Pantigana. Anche questo è un modello di qualche anno fa che avevo già cucito. Entrambi i cartamodelli sono semplici da cucire ma vorrei lasciarvi un paio di osservazioni che potrebbero essere utili se li cucite (o usate cartamodelli simili.

Barrett bralette

• Attenzione ad usare lo smalto come suggerito per evitare che la stoffa si sfilacci. Il mio ora gratta in quei punti.
• La rifinitura dell’apertura centrale è un po’ laboriosa. Fate in modo che gli elastici si sovrappongano leggermente.
• Anche se non indicato, consiglierei di rifinire con la taglia e cuci il bordo inferiore prima di cucire l’elastico.
• Misurare la lunghezza dell’elastico nel giromanica in modo da assicurarvi che le lunghezze corrispondano. Nel mio caso la parte destra è più arricciata!

Mutande retro

• Nonostante cucire l’elastico in piano prima di unire i fianchi sia più pratico, non mi piace il risultato finale. Vi consiglio di fermare i margini con dei punti sui fianchi o di cucire l’elastico in tondo.
