This is only my second Style Arc project but, boy, do I love their patterns! I’ve made and hacked Style Arc Kate dress many times.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about…Style Arc is an Australian professional pattern company that sell contemporary patterns both in print and pdf format. Generally their pattern come in one size only, except if you buy pdfs on Etsy or Amazon (US and UK). Quite unique is their offering a pattern of the month for free when you buy on their website. End of the info session ;o)
Fine dello stacco informativo ;o)
So, when Diana (thanks for tempting me!) posted about their new Dimity Top…it was love at first site…there went my no-more patterns pledge! But I did it hoping I would not only get a design I loved but also a nicely fitting woven sloper (especially at the shoulders) that I could hack again and again!
I am absolutely thrilled with the result. I went a size down compared to my measurements everywhere except at the shoulders. That was a wise decision…I didn’t have to move the bust dart.
The only change I made to this pattern (except for the obvious lengthening sleeves) was reducing the side pleats so the front wouldn’t pull.
I used a polkadot mesh I managed to hunt down during my travels and underlined the bodice with a very fine cotton batiste. Clearly this fabric choice affects the way the fabric hangs…you’ll see what I mean as soon as I publish my silk Dimity ;o)
Dimity is suitable for flamenco dancing too! The true story is that I was being silly during the photo shoot and just realize I didn’t have any proper back picture! But at least you get to see the behind-the-scenes and most importantly the back! Here I made a small change due to lack of fabric…I simply cut the back into a joke.
So…if you like this style I would absolutely recommend this pattern or you might like another favorite of mine Kristy Woven Top
Had you heard about or used Style Arc patterns before?
Conoscevate o avete usato cartamodelli Style Arc?
I love Style Arc designs, but I did not have good luck with the one pattern of theirs I tried. The fit was very off. Maybe I’ll try again someday.

Sorry to hear that! What pattern did you try? If I may ask

The Dixie woven top.

It’s a really lovely pattern. And very tempting for me! It reminds me of Datura by Deer and Doe. If there’s anything I can do to help you fitting it, let me know.

Thanks. It’s nice of you to offer. I made a muslin but the fit was so off I didn’t know how to fix it.

Well, if you ever want to share pictures just drop me an email. In some fitting class I took they mentioned choosing a pattern size that fits well at the shoulder, bust area and move from there.

I have made a knit top by StyleArc and absolutely love it and wear it all the time https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/issy-knit-top/ – I love SO many of their patterns and have several waiting to be made 🙂 Your blouse is gorgeous!

Thanks so much! Whoa that Issy top has a very interesting neckline. And it’s very nice to see how nice it is both with solids and prints. I’ve been considering getting some of their pants but sometimes find it hard to picture them on me not to mention I don’t easily find suitable knits for pants patterns and navigating their pattern list recently became more challenging. One pattern I would definitely like to get is Pippa Dress (not that I have anywhere to wear it to!)

I’m wondering if you realize your tops look like they are fitting you a bit snug-as in too small for you.
I have a hard time myself being between sizes on occasion.
IMHO your finished garments would look much better if you went up a size.

Thanks for your feedback. When worn it doesn’t fit snug at all. If you compare Dimity with Blanca top I made some time ago, I can tell you Blanca feels too loose when I wear it. I did have problems fitting Alma blouse at the shoulders but when sleeveless I think it was ok https://sewingprincess.com/2016/08/29/sewaholic-alma-blouse-color-blocked-aans-shirt-refashion/ Where do you see snugness? Thanks again

Thank you!
The sleeveless top is not one that I was referring to.
But a couple other pieces with 3/4 length sleeves -in photos appear to be too narrow in the sleeve & puckering under the arm.
If you’re happy, that’s all that matters in the end.
I realized though I would not be making those items, because of that snugness.
Thanks again!
