If I had to choose a favourite era…it would be the 60s! So when Burda released their vintage issue on this decade I literally ran to get it. There are only 11 patterns on this magazine issue so tracing them is less of a nightmare.
Fit was not a problem either…no bust darts and I omitted the back darts…so easy peasy. The biggest headache was working with the fabric…it’s a slippery chiffon (enough said) and it’s see-trough so I had to fully line it with cotton batiste. Strangely enough adding the zipper was less of a hassle than I imagined.
If you compare it with the original, you may notice I made a minor construction mistake…you are supposed to leave a gap between the front and back with sewing it on the collar (there’s even notches to tell you that!)…but I didn’t realize it until it was too late!
I love maxi dresses, have been meaning to make this pattern for the longest time ever not to mention the fabric was sitting in my stash…a winner all the way!
Can I have summer back please????
Ora potreste darmi in dietro l’estate???

I love this dress. I love how it’s retro but not too much. And I wish we’d had a summer… 😉 Very bored of the rain now.

It would be great if we could have 20/25 all year round. The only positive thing about cooler temperatures is lack of mosquitoes 😉

Lovely! The colours are nicely autumn-appropriate, maybe you can get a few more wears with a cozy cardigan and tights underneath?

So lovely and elegant, and the fabric is gorgeous . Would you believe I’m only just getting into Burda patterns?

Thanks so much! Well nowadays there’s so much to choose from and tracing Burda regular patterns is not so pleasant. I actually grew up on Burda as my mom used their patterns so when I started that was my go-to source;)
