Boatneck tee or Breton top

Everyone needs to have a Breton top in her wardrobe, right?

So why did it take me so long to make it?

It was my fear of ruining this precious fabric I got in Toronto coupled with my notorious laziness to match stripes!

In the end the fabric was well behaved so it wasn’t too much of a pain 😉 unlike what I’m currently experiencing with some chiffon!

Ci vuole almeno un top a righe nell’armadio, giusto?

E allora perché ci ho messo così tanto a finirlo?

I used a previously drafted pattern and adapted the neckline using Patternmaking + Design: Creative Necklines, with Suzy Furrer on Craftsy. I really like the course though I haven’t been able to finish all classes yet…

How’s this season been treating you? I’ve slowed down quite a bit due to the heat (I sew in the attic without airco!) and a paint job I need to finish!

  1. This is such a cute top. The fabric is simply gorgeous.
I can’t remember the last time I sewed something to wear. It’s been home dec recently, with more fabric for blinds about to go on order. I’m itching to dive in to the pattern and fabric stashes but summer holidays for the kids are nearly on us so I don’t think I’ll be dressmaking until the autumn 😦

  2. Love your top – that fabric IS gorgeous! I have a pattern on the way by Liesl Gibson called the Maritime top which looks VERY much like this one so seeing yours really whetted my appetite to get going on one of these 🙂
