How many versions of the same pattern can you make?* If you asked Roisin from Dolly Clacket she would tell you several! She is undoubtedly the queen of making the most out of her patterns!
After making two summer versions of this Burda 09/2012 108/109 in 2013 and in 2014, I tought it was time to be brave and cut into this beautiful cashmere wool I had stashed away.
I added sleeves that came with the pattern. They are slightly flared and have shoulder darts. Compared to previous versions I lowered the front neckline (feels much better around my neck) and opted for a straight neckline at the back.
I was worried the dress would turn out to be too plain so I added a strip of quilting cotton (Thanks Andrea). I carefully basted a line at center front and lined up the fabric. Though the picture tells otherwise I can assure you it’s straight. To be honest I am not sure pairing soft cashmere with stiffer quilting cotton was a wise choice as the two fabrics have different drape.
The dress is fully lined with grey taffeta. Again it was a bit of a gamble…I used what I had in my stash 😉
And now some questions: What would you suggest I make with the cashmere I have left (1.5 meters approx.)? I am thinking pants… Do you have any other ideas or pattern suggestions? What would you line this fabric with?
Cosa usereste come fodera?
*I was gazing outside hoping for inspiration 😉 That was clear, right?
*Stavo guardando fuori in attesa di ispirazione 😉 Era ovvio, no?

Oh this is fabulous. I love how the strip of yellow pops agains the grey, without being too over the top. Love! Love! Love!

I love the stripe accent — it totally makes the dress special and unique! Do you have enough yardage to make trousers? If so, your fabric would be perfect!

Yes Jean, I think I have enough for trousers. thanks for your advice

A cashmere dress – that sounds very comfortable and cozy! 🙂 The quilting cotton stripe gives a fun visual interest, even if it seems a bit stiff, I think I like it.

Ciao
