Over 1.5 years later I finally choose the pattern for the shot cotton fabric I bought in the US. I had initially thought of making a Mathilde Blouse, wait for Josephine to be released or make a Washi. But in the end I felt this pattern was more like me. Plus I love princess seams as they are easier to fit and I find they are more flattering on the body.

Plus this La Mia Boutique 11/2013 #12 Blouse is from one of my favorite Italian designers Carla G.

Before cutting into the fabric I made a muslin. And the fit was impressive…normally I have a hard time with armhole fit, not this time. It fits high enough and the sleeves are not wide. It really fits like on the picture. Sorry for the blurry mobile picture…when I sew I am so impatient I never stop for proper pictures! 

Dopo un anno e mezzo ho finalmente deciso quale modello usare per il cotone cangiante che ho comprato negli Stati Uniti. All’inizio pensavo di fare la camicia Mathilde, o aspettare Josephine oppure fare una versione della Washi. Ma alla fine ho pendato che questo modello si addicesse di più a me. E poi le cuciture sul corpino (princess seams in inglese…non so come si chiamino in italiano) hanno una migliore vestibilità.

E il modello de La Mia Boutique è di Carla G. una delle mie stiliste italiane preferite.

Prima di tagliare la stoffa ho fatto un modello di prova. La vestibilità è praticamente perfetta. Di solito il giromanica non mi va mai bene, ma questa volta è perfetto. E’ abbastanza stretto e le maniche non sono troppo larghe. Veste davvero come nella foto. Scusate per la foto fatta con il cellulare…quando cucio sono impaziente e non mi fermo mai per fare delle foto decenti!

As you can see, I did have to move the princess seam as my bust is smaller and had to do the usual forward shoulder adjustment.

I skipped the rounded back adjustment (as I write I feel like The Hunchback of Notre Dame) because I was lazy and thought the problem was minimal…when the blouse is done we will see if it was the right decision…or not!

Come potete notare, ho dovuto spostare la cucitura verticale perché ho il seno più piccolo e ho dovuto modificare le cuciture delle spalle perché le mie sono un po’ incurvate.

Non ho fatto modiche per la schiena un po’ curva (mentre scrivo mi sento proprio come il gobbo di Notre Dame!) per pigrizia e perché mi sembrava che il difetto fosse minimo. Quando la camicia sarà pronta vedremo se ho preso la giusta decisione oppure no!

I had bought these beautiful quilting cottons in NY and thought it would be nice to show them off. I am curious…which one would you have chosen? I’ll reveal my choice when done 😉

And because we are in the new year…I am being very diligent and finally taking the Craftsy class I bought in November 2012 (I told you my eyes go very fast!): The Classic Tailored Shirt with Pam Howard. I’ll tell you more on the class once I am done with it…but I have already learned one useful trick: Speed tailor tacks!

Invece di scegliere una stoffa tinta unita…ho azzardato il collo e i polsini con una stoffa fantasia. Se mi seguite su Pinterest, avrete notato da dove ho copiato l’idea.

Ho comprato queste bellissime stoffe per patchwork a New York e ho pensato fosse una buona idea farle vedere. Sono curiosa…quale stoffa avreste scelto voi? Vi dirò quale ho scelto appena avrò finito 😉

E visto che è appena iniziato il nuovo anno, sarò una brava alunna e finalmente seguirò il corso che ho comprato su Craftsy a Novembre 2012 (ve l’avevo detto che i miei occhi sono molto veloci): La camicia sartoriale classica con Pam Howard (il corso è in inglese ma si possono leggere i sottotitoli in inglese). Vi dirò di più sul corso quando avrò finito…ma intanto ho già imparato una cosa: come fare i punti lenti (o molli come dico io!) velocemente!
