2013 Failures – I disastri 2013

Burda Peplum Top

The picture says it all! A total failure! The sleeves were a disaster.
I never went back to it in the end! And in all honesty I am not even sure I would have liked the peplum (or rather penguin… given the shape) on me!

La foto da sola basta! Un completo disastro. Le maniche erano davvero un disastro.

Non ho mai ripreso il progetto in mano! E per esser sincera non sono neanche sicura che quel peplo (o meglio pinguino vista la forma) mi sarebbe stato bene.

My first undies
This is when you realize that despite 3 1/2 years sewing pretty much full-time you can still be a newbie!

L’esempio tangibile che nonostante 3 e mezzo a cucire quasi a tempo pieno sei ancora una principiante!

Jocole Cross-over Dress

The one where I forgot to cut the skirt back…so instead of a dress I had to make a tunic!

Here is where I prove my point…Cutting mistakes (and mistakes in general) are there to haunt you when you least expect them! A check list can help! This is not an utter failure as it gets worn a lot despite the crossover fit issues!

Ovvero quando mi sono dimenticata di tagliare il dietro della gonna…e in mancanza di stoffa ho dovuto fare una maglia. L’ulteriore riprova che gli errori di taglio (e gli errori in generale) sono sempre in agguanto quando meno te li aspetti! Fare delle liste di controllo serve! Per fortuna non è stato del tutto un disastro visto che ho usato molto questa maglietta!

Winnie Lounge Pants

I totally miscalculated the width needed to get the pants on and off! I really have to pull to get them past my bum! I should have not interfaced the waistband. It’s too stiff now and doesn’t fit snugly enough at the waist! They get worn very little despite the lovely fabric. Any suggestions?

Ho sbagliato a calcolare la larghezza necessaria per tirare su e giù i pantaloni. Devo davvero tirare per farli passare oltre il sedere. E non avrei mai dovuto aggiungere la teletta in vita. Ora è troppo rigida e rimane troppo larga in vita. Alla fine li metto poco nonostante la stoffa sia molto carina. Avete qualche suggerimento?

My wedding outfit

Well, this one is more for sentimental reasons! And for the time spent on the crossover neckline easing!

Mettere il vestito del matrimonio era una scelta abbastanza ovvia, no? E anche per il tempo perso a molleggiare la scollatura!

 If I were to redo it again, I would change the stole for a bolero.

Però se dovessi rifare il vestito sostituirei la stola con un bolero.

Though I only made it recently, I have been wearing it quite frequently.

This Simplicity 2446 Amazing Fit Misses’ Jacket is certainly a pattern I would recommend if you want to venture in the jacket territory.

Anche se ho finito la giacca da poco, l’ho messa molto.

Questa giacca Simplicity 2446 è sicuramente un modello che consiglierei a quelle che vogliono provare a cucire una giacca!

Miette Cardigan

It was my first proper knitting project and I was happy I managed to complete it. It’s the project that sums up my take on life: never fear a new challenge, it will be hard at first, sometimes you will fail and have to start from scratch, but when you succeed that feeling of satisfaction is priceless!

But most of all, can’t finish this post without telling you I am immensely thankful for the time you take reading my blog! 

Il mio primo vero maglione fatto a mano e sono davvero contenta di essere riuscita a finirlo. è il progetto che riassume la mia filosofia di vita: non aver paura delle nuove sfide, sarà dura all’inizio, a volte sarà un disastro e dovrai ricominciare, ma quando ce la fai la soddisfazione è senza prezzo!

Ma non posso finire questo post senza dirvi che sono davvero grata del tempo che dedicate a leggere il mio blog!
